Offer Codes

Subscription Offers Codes are a fairly new feature from Apple that allow you to offer highly varied discounts on your subscription tiers to users of the past, present, and future. By generating and distributing offer codes, you'll boost your sales far beyond what was possible via Giveaways and standard single-code shares. Let's learn how to make 'em.

Step 1: Create an Offer

Select your subscription from the Tokens sidebar. Click the menu next to the which will prompt you to either Create a Giveaway or Create an Offer. Obviously here's where we want the offer option. Or you can click Learn About Offers, which will take you back here. And you can read the instructions up to this point and keep selecting Learn About Offers until you get stuck in a time loop. We don't take responsibility for any catastrophic spacetime ruptures.

Out of the time loop? Impressive. Let's move on. Here's where you can specify all the details of your offer. First, give it a name. Pick a good one. You can select a color here for better organization or decide on that later. Next, under Customer Eligibility, select who can redeem your offer—fine-tuning this lets you target a specific audience you plan to win, keep, or win back as paid users.

Type of Offer specifies how your user will pay:

Finally, choose the duration of the offer and amount the person on the receiving end should pay. If you get confused about any of these settings, be glad you're not using App Store Connect! Reach out to [email protected] for clarification on anything.

Step 2: Load it up and share!

See the to the left your newly created offer? Click it and choose how many codes you'd like to load up at first. Apple set it so you can only generate Offer Codes in batches of a few hundred at a time and at a cap of 150,000 codes per quarter per subscription—more than enough for most of us. Once your codes have been generated, click the dots to the right of your Offer to copy and share the redeemable link! Tokens will handle distribution of one code per customer.

Step 3: Organize and top-up

If you have more than one subscription tier, you'll likely end up generating different kinds of Offers for different audiences and occasions. It's super important to stay organized. You can easily head back into any Offer's settings via the ellipsis menu → View Offer Info. Update the name and color to signify whatever statuses you come up with—for example, once an Offer's gone live on Twitter, color it green in Tokens to remember.

Offers that are placed more permanently, e.g. in an onboarding email automation, don't have to be swapped out for new links. Instead, select your Offer and click the button again to top-up with more codes when you're starting to run low.
